EMIL LUNDEEN DIES AT AGE 76

Emil Lundeen, 76, a retired farmer from this vicinity, died Thursday morning [Sept. 15] at a Yankton hospital.

Mr. Lundeen was born October 1, 1878, in Smoland, Sweden. He came to the United States as a young man and settled on the farm 6 miles east of Alcester. He married Theresa Oman in 1912. To this union three children were born, one of whom died in infancy. His wife also preceded him in death 12 years ago. He was a member of the Alcester Baptist church.

Survivors include a son, Lloyd, of Hawarden, and a daughter, Mrs. Emily Gould of Sioux City, and three granddaughters. There is also a brother in Sweden.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Alcester Baptist church and burial was under the direction of the Nilson Funeral home.

NOTE: His wife's obituary (Hawarden Independent, Oct. 14, 1943) spells her maiden name Oham.
