Frances Martha Langan, 100, of Brookings, S.D. died January 17, 1991 at her residence in Brookings.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father James Michael Doyle officiating. Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Rock Valley, Ia. with Rude's Funeral Home of Brookings in charge of arrangements.

Frances M. Langan was born on December 22, 1890, in Rock Valley, Ia., the daughter of Michael and Mary (Chahuska) Kaskie.

Frances spent her early years and received her education in Rock Valley. After receiving her education she taught elementary school in Rock Valley from 1919 [i.e., 1909?] until 1912. She was united in marriage to Joseph Langan on February 6, 1912, in Rock Valley. After their marriage they continued to live in Rock Valley until 1918, when they moved to rural Aurora, South Dakota. Joseph died on February 20, 1970, in Brookings. Frances continued to live in the farm until 1976, when she moved to Brookings.

Frances was a member of the St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Joseph), and one daughter (Mildred), who died February 20, 1980.
