GRANDMA BLESSING GONE

Mrs. Martha Blessing passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Lutjens, in Hull, last Friday morning, at 1:30 o'clock, after an illness of eleven weeks.

Mrs. Blessing was past eighty-eight years old and has lived in this vicinity for the past twenty-four years. She was born in Kirchheilmyen, Germany on June 9th, 1839. In the year 1853 she was united in marriage to Theodore Blessing, of Ufhoven, Germany. To this union were born eight children, three of them and the husband dying in the old country, before Mrs. Blessing came to this country in 1903.

The surviving children are Mrs. H. Lemcke, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mrs. J. H. Lutjens, of Hull, Iowa, O. C. Blessing, of Sheldon, Iowa, Mrs. E. Hirt, of Boyden, Iowa, and Carl Blessing, of Wadena, Minnesota. There are thirty-three grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, at the home and from St. Paul's Lutheran church north of Hull and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near by, Rev. Goeringer officiating.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Buckman, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. McCormack, Laurens, Iowa; L. H. Lutjens, Sheldon, Iowa; O. F. Lutjens, Sioux City, Iowa; A. P. Lutjens, Fort Crook, Mebr.; Mrs. Lemcke, St. Paul, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Blessing, Sheldon, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. E. Hirt, and Mr. and Mrs. C. Hirt, of Boyden; and Mr. and Mrs. H. Oberman, Orange City, Iowa.

Mrs. Blessing was a kind motherly person and had a host of friends, who mourn with the relatives in her departing. The Index wishes to join in extending sincere sympathy to the surviving relatives.
