Funeral services were held for John C. Landhuis, 87, at the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley on September 15. The Rev. Henry Poppen, Sibley, officiated. Burial was at Valley View Cemetery.

John C. Landhuis was born November 16, 1887, in the Netherlands. He married Alberta Aardema on February 22, 1917 at Sioux Center. She died on June 9, 1934. On August 16, 1935, he married Hattie Winterfield at Rock Rapids. She died January 21, 1968.

Survicors include one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence E. (Joan) Luckey, Littleton, Colorado, one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Hendrikus and Cornelious, and two sisters, Mrs. Jan Abbink and Mrs. Herman Smelt, all of the Netherlands.

Landhuis was a barber in Rock Valley from 1924 until the mid 1950s when he retired. His avocation, painting, was widely known in the area.
