Gwen Lang, 82, of Hawarden died Wednesday, April 24, at Hass Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden.

Services were Saturday at United Methodist Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Lang was born on April 10, 1914, in the Hawarden area, the daughter of Warren H. and Mabel (Summers) Earl. She attended school near Ireton until the eighth grade and was graduated from Hawarden High School in 1932.

She married George R. Lang on May 17, 1935, in Hawarden. They lived in Evansville, Minnesota, for 17 years and moved to Iowa in February 1952. They lived in the Ireton area on a farm until 1976, when they moved to Hawarden. Her husband died on May 21, 1984, and she remained in Hawarden until moving to an apartment in Alcester, where she lived for a few years. She moved to the care center in Hawarden on December 28, 1995.

Mrs. Lang was a member of United Methodist Church in Hawarden.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Hemmingson and her husband, Milo, of Alcester and Mary Kennedy and her husband, Lee, of Hawarden; four grandchildren, Deb Berg, Rodney Hemmingson, Charles and Eric Kennedy; and a great-granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Keith Lang, and two brothers, Lyle R. Earl and Vernon Earl.
