Funeral services were held Monday, February 2, from the First Reformed Church of Sheldon for Ben Lyftogt, 72, who died Friday [Jan. 30] at the Sheldon Community Hospital.

Rev. A. Van Dyke officiated and burial was made in the Newkirk cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploegs.

Mr. Lyftogt was born May 10, 1886, at Zutphen, Netherlands.

Surviving are the widow and four children: Mrs. Joe Tensen of Sheldon, John of Hospers, Wilbur of Hospers and Gary B. of Sheldon; nine stepchildren: Mrs. Lawrence Hyink of Winfred, S.D.; Rev. John Groen of Burlington; Mrs. Marcus Kreykes of Sheldon; Peter Groen of Blue Earth, Minn.; Ray Bakker of Rock Valley; Gerrit Bakker of Larchwood; Syrus Bakker of Rock Rapids; Mrs. George Middle of Rock Valley and Mrs. Donald D. Tiedemann of Hull; 41 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Three brothers and one sister also survive: John of Orange City, Joe of Lane, S.D., Gerrit of Sheldon and Mrs. Joe Ten Beste of Sheldon.

His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him.
