Obituary: Denver, CO: Karen Louise DeVries passed away May 29th, 2010, at the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. following a brief illness. Her body has been cremated. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 25th at 11 a.m. at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, IA....There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Porter Funeral Home of Hawarden.
Karen was born May 31st, 1942 to Fountain and Hilda (Marshall) Cain. She received her education in Hawarden, graduating in 1960. On Oct. 8th, 1960, Karen married Bill DeVries, moved to Ireton, IA, where they lived for several years.
After life changes, Karen moved to Denver. She enjoyed the mountains and loved her job of 18 years at IHOP and all the people she met and worked with there. Karen enjoyed sewing and used her sewing talents for friends and family.Survivors are her children - Cindy and family of Oklahoma, Bart of St. Cloud, MN., Bret of Fargo, ND and 3 grandchildren, a sister, Christi Scheer of Greeley, Co. and a brother Richard Cain and his wife Peggy of Sioux City, Ia. and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marilyn Branstiter, brother-in-law Don Branstiter and nephew, Scott Branstiter.
Memorials may be directed to the Hawarden United Methodist Church.
