Mrs. Lucille Van De Brake, age 92, of Sioux Center, formerly of Orange City, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, June 23, at 11:00am, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Paul Bakker will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a prayer service on Wednesday, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Lucille was born on October 17, 1917, in rural Orange City, the daughter of Cornelius and Maggie (Scheeringa) Siebersma. She was raised in the Carnes area.
On September 2, 1938, she married Elmer Van De Brake at Carnes. They made their home in Orange City, where she was a homemaker. She and her husband also served as caretakers of the Kepp Apartments in Orange City. In 1994, they moved to Sioux Center, where they became residents of the Franken Manor. Elmer passed away on February 5, 2000, in Sioux Center.

In 2001, Mrs. Van De Brake moved to the nursing wing of the Sioux Center Community Hospital, later transferring to Royale Meadows.

She was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church, where she participated in the women’s activities. She also belonged to the Monica Society, and she and Elmer distributed Bibles for the World Home Bible League.
Lucille was a very kind and content person, as well as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for making special foods for her family.

Survivors include her daughter and her husband, Carol and John Byl, of Sioux Center; a son, Robert Van De Brake, of Lakeside, California; eight grandchildren, Sherri, and her husband, Mark Soodsma; Mary, and her husband, Byron Broekhuis; Tim Byl, and his wife, Tam; Evan Byl; John Mark Byl, and his wife, Heidi; Theresa, and her husband, Albert Johnston; Derrick Van De Brake; and Tiffany Van De Brake; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers, Sophia Van Zee; Hermina Muilenburg; Steve Siebersma, and his wife, Lois; Edna, and her husband, Frank Katje; and Cornelius Siebersma, and his wife, Audrey, all of Orange City; and Marilyn, and her husband, Chester Faber, of San Marcos, California; a sister-in-law, Nelvie Siebersma, of Arizona; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Hofland, of Orange City.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a stillborn son; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Van De Brake; a brother, Stanley Siebersma; and a sister, Marjorie Hofland.
