From the Alton Democrat of April 16, 1892 Hospers Happenings.
The grim messenger, Death, has again entered our midst and taken on of our brightest flowers to that Home above, where all is peace and love. Mrs. John Niewenhuis, who has been sick for ove two months died. She has never been very strong and did not have the strength to rally from her severe attack of typhoid fever. All was done that human hands could do. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Tuesday, by Revs. Mouw and Vander Kamp. The remains were followed to their last resting place by sorrowing relatives and friends. She leaves a husband and one child to mourn her loss.

The child is believed to be Arie b. Feb 1891.)
