Gertie Lammers, 86, of Sheldon, died Thursday in the Sheldon hospital after a brief illness. Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Kenneth Tenchinck officiated. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Mrs. Lammers, the former Gertie Van Veldhuizen, was born Oct. 15, 1900 in Sheldon. She lived her youth and attended school in Newkirk. She married William D. Lammers on Feb. 22, 1923 in Newkirk. The couple farmed near Newkirk, Sioux Center and Sheldon until retiring into Sheldon in 1976. Mr. Lammers died Oct. 15, 1986. She was a charter member of Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Survivors include 'three daughters, Mrs. Max (Hermina) McGinnis of Cheyenne, Wyo,, Mrs. James (Elizabeth) Dykstra of Orange City and Mrs, Norman (Fannie) Menning of Doon; two sons, William of Sheldon and Gerrit of Ireton; one brother, Andrew Van Veldhuizen of Sibley; one sister, Jennie Ver Steeg of Orange City; 18 grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren.
