From the Sioux County Herald of May 4, 1892, also recorded in the Alton Democrat of May 7, 1892
Mrs. K. S. De Jong died at her home in Orange City yesterday morning. She was about 58 years old and her death was caused by a desease of the Heart. She leaves three sons here, and several other children in Holland. Her husband died a couple of years ago (end of April of 1889) from injuries received at the two mill. Mrs. De Jong's funeral takes place this afternoon from the First Reformed church Orange City.
(the submitter has found that a Mr. and Mrs. K. DeJong were buried in the Orange city Cemetery as recorded in the WPA cemetery Index, however no stone or dates recorded. In the Sioux County Herald of May 2, 1889 Mr. DeJong, whose hand was hurt in the tow mill, is in a critical condition and is not expected to live, blood poisoning having set in. Further investigation revealed that the family had recently come to the USA from Holland and their family was found in the Friesland records in Holland on www.genlias.nl Klaas Sijes DeJong age 23 born at Berlikum, Friesland to Sije Wybes deJong and Geertje Klazes Werkhoven; married 20 May 1857 at Menaldumadeel to Trijntje Klazes Boomstra age 24, born at Berlikum, to Klaas Lolkes Boomstra and Geertje Ymes Appelhof. They had the following children: Sije b. 1858 died; Geertje b. 1859; Klaas b. 1860; Sytske b. 1862; Sije b. 1863; Akke b. 1865; Lolke b. 1868 died ; Wybe b. 1889; Lolke b. 1870 died; Lolke b. 1872 and Gabe b. 1877.)
