Henry J. Pennings, age 72, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. David Brower officiating.

Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Henry John Pennings was born on April 8, 1937, in Seney, Iowa. He lived his youth in Sioux and O’Brien counties, where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was united in marriage to Marlene Van Klompenburg of Alton, Iowa, on May 9, 1961, in Orange City. They lived and farmed in rural Sheldon, Iowa. Marlene passed away on April 6, 2001.
He was united in marriage to Connie (Engeltjes) Redinius of Sheldon, Iowa, on August 6, 2005. They lived in Sheldon.
Henry was an active member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon, where he served as an elder and deacon, and served over 20 years in the Sunday School Department.
Henry was very outgoing and always on the go. He was very energetic which earned him the nickname "H.P." (Horse Power).
He passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife: Connie Pennings of Sheldon, IA; six daughters and sons-in-law: Carla Dunham of Sioux Falls, SD, Rachel and Leon Hubers of Orange City, IA, Marilyn and Todd Wichers of Littleton, CO, Laura and James Evenson of Mantorville, MN, Donna and Greg Van Peursem of Rock Valley, IA, Linda and Greg Winkel of Ashton, IA; one son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Jessica Pennings of Ankeny, IA; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchildren; two step children: Kari and Brian Duffy of Louisville, CO, Jari and Jessica Brink of Naperville, IL; four step grandchildren; seven sisters and eight brothers-in-law: Marlene and Alan Vande Kamp of Rock Valley, IA, Leona and Vern Vande Kamp of Orange City, IA, Ada and Bob Geels of Sheldon, IA, Helen and Bob Bajema of Sioux Falls, SD, Irene and Curt Van Oort of Rock Valley, IA, Deanne Pennings of Sioux Falls, SD, Sheila Jones of Sioux Falls, SD, Jerry Vander Pol and his wife Sherri of Sheldon, IA; one brother and sister-in-law: Ivan and Jan Pennings of Sheldon, IA; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Marlene; one grandson; Brennan Evenson; his parents; one sister: Juliana Vander Pol.
