Emmaritta Madden
Emmarilla Dorsey Madden, former resident of Alton for many years, passed away at the Elfindale Manor in Springfield, Mo., on September 17, 2009 at the age of 94 years and 32 days.
She was born at JacksOnville, Fla., on May 5, 1915, to Charles and Elsie Gensen Dorsey.
She was from a family of six children, five of whom have passed on. She also leaves behind two children, Susan Edwards of Macomb, Mo., and Orval D. Madden of Montecito, Calif., five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Julie, and four of her brothers and sisters.
She was married to Orval James Madden from Worthing, S.D. May 19, 1940, and they were married for 69 years and 21 days.
She attended schools in Arizona, California and Iowa. She received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College and taught first and second grades at Auburn, for four years.
She was cremated, and her burial will be at Santa Maria, Calif. at a later date.
