Funeral services were held at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley at 1:30 P.M., November 17 for William Van Roekel, 73, of Doon, who died November 13 at a Rock Rapids hospital after being stricken at his home.

Services were conducted by the Rev. William Sujker and burial was in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley.

Mr. Van Roekel was born in The Netherlands June 23, 1902. He came to the U.S. in 1928. He was married to Willemina Teunissen January 24, 1934, at Perkins. The couple farmed in the Rock Valley-Doon area.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Hans and Case, both of Doon; a daughter, Mrs. Ed (Bertha) Van Grootheest of Doon; five brothers, Johannes, Gerrit, Herman, Frank and Bor, all in The Netherlands; and six sisters, Mrs. Henry Aarsen of Orange City, Mrs. Marinus Pitlo of Hull and Mrs. Ryk Ploeg, Mrs. Case Van Dyk, Mrs. Marinus Van Brugge and Mrs. Evert Van Marten, all of The Netherlands; and four grandchildren.
