Obituary Of Louis Maher

Following is a more complete obituary of Louis Maher, former Hawarden resident, who died in California.

Louis Maher, 69, died suddenly at his home at 1440 Florida St., Long Beach Calif., on May 8. A former Hawarden resident Mr. Maher and his family moved to California from Hawarden in 1941.

Mr. Maher was born in Beresford, S. D.. July 19, 1895. He married Inez Talcon at St. Mary's church in Hawarden on September 11. 1922.

He served in the United States Army artillery division during World War I and was a member of the American Legion in Long Beach.

The rosary was recited at the Sheelar Mortuary and the funeral mass was celebrated at St. Anthony’s church in Long Beach. Interment was made in Veterans Memorial cemetery at Fort Rosecrans, San Diego.

Survivors besides the widow are a son, William L. Maher and a daughter, Patricia Maher Harter, both of Long Beach. Mr. Maher was an uncle to Wendell Adams in rural Hawarden.
