Rites Friday For Adolph J. Ludwig

Funeral services for Adolph John Ludwig, 86, who died at the Hawarden hospital Monday, will be held at 2 o'clock Friday at the Peace Lutheran church in Alcester, Rev. Ernest Lindner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of the Nilson Funeral home.

Born April 9, 1879, a son of August and Margaret Ludwig, he was a lifetime resident of Big Springs township in Union county and Alcester. He married Mary Ronning October 25. 1899, at the Roseni Lutheran church south of Beresford and farmed most of his life. She died in December of I960. He was also preceded in death by a son in 1909.

Mr. Ludwig served the South Dakota legislature in 1932 as state representative and served 45 years on the Ludwig's school board and many years on the township board. He was active in civic and church work until his retirement to Morningside Manor.

Survivors include four sons, Roy A. and Kenneth M., both of Alcester, Loyd of Burbank, Calif., and Leonard of Yankton, S. D.; a foster daughter, Mrs. Esther Cummings of Washington. D. C.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
