Mrs. Ella Johnson Dies At Age 73

Funeral services for Mrs. Ella A. Johnson, 73, were held Monday at the First Baptist church with Rev. Henry Nelson and Rev. Ronald W. Dalzell officiating. Interment was in the Big Springs cemetery.

Mrs. Pete Sinkey was organist. James Squier sang "Abide With Me" and "Save 'By Grace." Casket bearers were; Ronald Johnson, Richard Merrick, Marlin Hansen, Merle Johnson, Malcom Kratochvil and William E. Kratochvil.

Mrs. Johnson died Thursday at a Sioux Valley hospital after a short illness.

She was born April 18, 1893, near Big Springs west of Hawarden in Union county. She married Eddia Johnson September 4, 1913 at Big Springs. He died in 1965 after which she had lived at an Alcester nursing home.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Alcester and a charter member of the home extension clubs of Union county, being a member for 48 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harry Kratochvil of Hawarden; five grandchildren; two brothers, Conrad and Ralph Johnson, both of Alcester; a sister, Mrs. David Johnson of Alcester.
