Services Today For Mrs. Devries

Mrs. John De Vries, 87, died Sunday at a Hawarden nursing home where she had been a resident for more than a year.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock his afternoon (Thursday) at St. Matthew Lutheran church at Chatsworth, Rev. Harris Hostager officiating. The congregation will sing two hymns with Marie Degen at the organ.

Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery under direction of the Barnard-Dow Funeral home. Casket bearers will be Harry, Henry, John, Lester, Edward, and Peer DeVries.

Mrs. Devries, the former Jennie Fissbeck, was born. May 19, 1879, in The Netherlands and she married John De Vries February 28, 1909, in The Netherlands. They came to the United States that same year and settled in Sioux county, Mr. Devries died March 23, 1959, at Hawarden. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church of Chatsworth.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Emil D. Anderson and Mrs. Ed McKee, both of Hawarden; six sons, Harry and John, both of Hudson, Henry of Fairview, S.D., Lester of Akron, Edward of Fresno, Calif., and Pete of Turlock, Calif. 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
