Services Today For John Wendel

John Henry Wendel died Tuesday at Sioux City at the age of 81 years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at the Trinity Lutheran. Mr. Wendel was born to Matthew and Anna VonRheim Wendel November 16, 1885, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He came to the United States in 1910 and married Hulda Christine Reiser March 4, 1925, He farmed in both Sioux and Union counties before his retirement in 1954, at which time he made his home in Hawarden. He moved to Sioux City in 1961.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1946 and one brother.

He is survived by one son, Robert, of Hawarden; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Arlene) McCart of Omaha and Mrs. Milt (Helen) Hartman of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; one brother, Nick Wendel of Gladbrook, Iowa, and five sisters, Mrs. Emelie Holtkamp of Hawarden, Mrs. Dona Buettner of Anthon, Iowa, Mrs. Frieda Hoonhorst of Hudsonville, Mich., Mrs. Anna Staack of Fehmarn, Germany and Mrs. Tite Kilater of Kiel, Germany
