Prominent Resident Dies At The Age Of 74

Funeral services for Henry John Ludwigs, 74, were held Saturday at the St. John's Lutheran church of Craig with Rev. Ernest Christensen, Jr., officiating. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery in Craig under the direction of the Mauer Funeral home at Le Mars.

Mr. Ludwigs died last Wednesday, June 7, 1967, following a long illness.

He was born April 2, 1893, in Grant township near Le Mars. He married Pauline Schilling September 12, 1916, in Craig. He operated the general store at Craig from 1922 until his retirement in 1965.

Mr. Ludwigs member of the Brotherhood of St. John's where he served in the capacity of deacon, president and treasurer. He also served on the city council at Craig 12 years and for many years was a director on the school board.

Mr. and Mrs. Ludwigs celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in September of 1966.

Mr. Ludwigs was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Vernon, of Sioux City; daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Esther) Van De Water of Le Mars; a sister, Mrs. John Miniets of Craig; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
