Services Held For Hudson Resident

Funeral services for John R. Vipond, Sr., 68, were held at 2:p. m. Saturday at the Hudson Lutheran church. Rev. O. V. Everson officiated and burial was in Eden cemetery at Hudson under the direction of the Vandemore Funeral home.

Mr. Vipond died last Wednesday at the Hawarden hospital following a brief illness.

He was born March 13, 1899, on a farm in Union county, South Dakota. He married Annie Rice on October 28, 1921 at Orange City and the couple lived on a farm in Lincoln county near, Hudson until. 1938, when they moved to Hudson. Mr. Vipond was a custodian at the Hudson public school for 25 years, retiring at the end of the 1965-66 school year.

Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Mrs. Howard Bradley of Los Gatos, Calif., Mrs. Orland Steinfadt of Hudson, Mrs. Merlyn Winterfeld of Sioux Center and Mrs. Fred Miller of Huron, S.D.; a son, John R. Vipond, Jr., of Omaha, four brothers, Charles, Roy and Chester Vipond, all of Hudson, and Ralph Vipond of Anaheim, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Neill of Hawarden; a half-sister, Mrs. Lillian Dixon of Alcester; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
