Infant Killed In Car Crash
Lisa Luke, 10 1/2-month-old daughter of Mr. mid Mrs. Larry Luke of Yankton, former Hawarden residents, was killed in near head on collision of two cars Saturday night four miles west of Vermillion.
Mr. and Mrs. Luke, both 21, were termed in "satisfactory" condition earlier this week at the Vermillion hospital. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bayard Swanson and a graduate of West Sioux high school. He is a former employee of Lankhorst's Jack & Jill store in Hawarden.
Also killed was Mrs. Gloria Jean Knight, 35, of Sioux City. Herbert Llewellyn, 42, Sioux City, was reported in serious condition.
Mrs. Luke suffered severe facial lacerations and fractured ribs. Mr. Luke sustained face lacerations and multiple bruises.
South Dakota highway patrolmen said the Luke family was driving west and Mrs. Knight and Mr. Llewellyn were traveling east.
