Mrs. Mary Sinkey Dies At Age 83

Mrs. Mary Peters Sinkey,83, of Ireton died Saturday at the Hawarden hospital following a brief illness. She was hospitalized Thursday following a stroke. She was born Feb. 10, 1879 and was raised in the Orange City area. On December 15, 1905, she married Peter Sinkey of Ireton. They farmed near Maurice before moving to Ireton where Mr. Sinkey operated an implement business. Mr. Sinkey died in 1944.

She is survived by three daughter, Mrs. Sam Westra (Johana), Mrs. Gilbert Bruxvoort (Verda Mae) of Ireton and Mrs. John VerBrugge (Marie) of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, one son Clarence of Sioux City, 15 grandchildren, one great grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Sam Wiersma of Orange City, two brothers, Ben Peters of Hospers.

Funeral service were held on Tuesday at the Satterlee Funeral home at 1:30 and at the Christian Reformed church at 2 o'clock. Rev. Alfred Hannink officiated.
