Hawarden Independent, Hawarden, Sioux, Iowa, USA Thursday, March 19, 1999

Ruth L. Ludwigs, 79, of Chatsworth, died Thursday, March 11,1999, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, with Rev. Allen-Bidne officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Ludwigs was born October 24,1919, in Sioux City, the daughter of Carl H. and Nannie O. (Swedeberg) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended school in Lawton, graduating in 1936. She married John Ludwigs on August 4, 1973, in Chatsworth.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church Women, and Lutheran Brotherhood. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting and ceramics.

Survivors include her husband; two sons and their wives, Ken and Jill Johnson, of Denver, CO, and Jeff and Barb Robinson, of Chatsworth; a daughter and her husband, Margo and Paul Hodgins, of Sioux City; a stepdaughter, Judy Smith, of Sioux City; two stepsons and their wives, Jim and Lori Ludwigs and Jay and Cheryl Ludwigs, all of Omaha, NE; six sisters, Esther Arnswald, of Le Mars, Vivian Comstock, of Arizona, Lavone Rose, of Sioux City, Carol Axelson, of Wisconsin, June Utesch, of Loveland, CO, and Nadine Mook, of Salix; a brother, Bob Olson, of Fort Collins, CO; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Ralph Olson; and a sister, Marilyn Olson. Pallbearers were Greg Summers, Jerry Johnson, Jason I Robinson, Glenn Farrer, Tom Reeves and Kenny Smith.
