Final Services Held Here For David Skogman

Funeral services for David Skogman, 75, who died Wednesday evening, November 7, at the Hawarden hospital, were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Barnard Funeral home. Rev. Paul Williams of the First Baptist church officiated.

Hal Shoemaker, with Mrs. Shoemake as accompanist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me," Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery.

He was one of seven children of the family of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Skogman. pioneer residents of Union county. He was married to Miss Nora Hendricks of this vicinity July 10, 1918. One daughter Florence was born to this union. She died February 14, 1950.

Mr. Skogman spent most of his life in Union county, where he farmed. Ten years ago he retired and moved to Hawarden.

He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Besides the widow, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Gilman of Omaha and Miss Ann Skogman of Hawarden; one brother, Arthur of Sheridan, Wyo. and three grandchildren. His two granddaughters, Bonnie and Sally Jensen, have made their home with their grandparents since the death of their mother and the grandson, Raymond Jensen, lives with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Berg in Hawarden.

Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. Amanda Gilman and Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Davidson and Carol of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gilman of Kennebec, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Art Hendricks of Bonesteel, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jackson of Vermillion, and Mrs. Vera McInnis, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling McInnis, Mr., and Mrs. Roy Vander Hamm, Ben Dalgliesh and Ben Dalgliesh, Jr., of Sioux City.
