Fall Fatal to 4-Year-Old Girl
Funeral services for Darla Kay Venard, 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Venard of Sioux City, who died in a hospital Saturday following a fall down the basement steps at her home, were held at l o'clock Tuesday James Methodist church in Sioux City, Rev. Milton Northdurft officiating.
Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery at Hawearden with Cameron Davis, Harold Vander Schoor, Lyle Venard and Dean White as pall bearers.
Little Darla Kay apparently lost her footing at the top of the stairs Saturday afternoon at her home at 2535 South Martha Street in Sioux City and hit her head on the cement floor of the basement. She got up up and climbed the stairs by herself, but about an hour later went into convulsions. She was then taken to a hospital where a specialist was consulted and he gave orders to prepare her for surgery. She died that evening before the operation could be performed.
Survivors include the parents and Mark, 8 Steve, 6, and Ramona, l0 months, all at home; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Venard and Mr. and Mrs. Art Davis, all of Hawarden and the great grandfather, Guy Venard also of Hawarden.
