Former Ireton Resident Dies
Ernest Vander Hamm, 73 a former Ireton resident, died at his home in Sheldon after a long illness.
He was born March 7, l888 at Ireton, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Vander Hamm, pioneers of the Ireton vicinity. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Luteran Church east of Ireton.
He married Miss Cena Nanninga, to which union five daughters were born, They farmed for a number of years southeast of Ireton before mo ving to Sheldon where he was employed as district manager of the E. M. Peets Feed Co. In 1959 he was forced to retire because of ill health.
Funeral services were held in Sheldon January 2.
He is survived by the widow, Cena, three daughters, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one sister. The daughters are Mrs. Melvin Molman and Mrs. Richard Carl of Sheldon and Mrs. Silas Siege of Maurice. The sister is Miss Christine Vander Hamm of Ireton.
