LUCILLE F. WIERDA was born to Arie and Anna (Zomermaand) Franken on July 17, 1915 in Sioux Center, Iowa. She received her education through the 8 th grade in Sioux Center. On August 11, 1933, Lucille was united in marriage to Lewis M. Wierda in Sioux Center. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1984.
Following their marriage Lucille and Lewis lived in Sioux Center until moving to Maurice in 1942. Lucille and Lewis were blessed with five children and Lucille stayed particularly busy caring for her family besides assisting Lewis with his painting business. Lucille loved spending time with her family. She was fond of playing table games when friends came over. After Lewis death, Lucille moved to Sioux Center in 1987. She was a past member of the Maurice Reformed Church for many years and was currently a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
This past Sunday night, September 1, 2002 Lucille went home to be with her Lord after battling cancer.
Left to cherish her memory her three sons and daughters-in-law: Martin and Shirley Wierda of Sioux Center; Louis and Gloria Wierda of Maurice and Clifton and Jonna Wierda of Maurice; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Nobel of LeMars and daughter, Thelma Brunk of Newbury Park, CA along with 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Lucille is also survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law: E.J. and Lyda Kosters of Sioux Center; Henry A. and Delia Franken of Sioux Center; Joe and Ruth Franken of Lebanon; three sisters-in-law: Lucille Werda of Orange City; Dollie Franken of Redlands, CA; Frieda Wierda of Sioux Center; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Reynold and Peggy Wierda of Sioux Center and Marvin and Lorraine Wierda of Sioux Center; brother-in-law, John G.A. Van Roekel of Sioux Center; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Clarence Kiel of Orange City and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Lewis, Lucille was preceded in death by son-in-law, Robert Brunk; her parents; brother, Everette A. Franken; two half-sisters: Ella Brantsen and Arta Jacobsma; halfbrother, Gerrit Franken; step brother-in-law, George Bakker; brothers-in-law: Thomas Wierda, Pete Duits, Bernard Wierda and three sisters-in-law: Henrietta Parsonson, Martha Van Roekel and Jane Eva Duits.
