RAYMOND DE JAGER
MAURICE, IOWA - Raymond De Jager, 90, of Maurice passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at first Reformed Church in Maurice, with the Revs. Wayne Sneller and Mark Haverdink officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 2 to 4 p.m. at Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, Iowa.
Raymond was born March 20, 1913, in Maurice, the son of Peter and Nellie (Swartz) De Jager. He was raised in the Ireton, IA, area.
On Sept. 27, 1935, he married Elsie Popma in Ireton. They lived in Gardenia, Calif., where he worked in a dairy. In 1940, they returned to Ireton to farm. They moved to a farm near Maurice in 1946. In 1976, he retired and they moved into Maurice. On Aug 17, 1995, the couple became residents of Pleasant Acres. Elsie passed away Aug. 16, 2000, in Hull.
He was a member of First Reformed Church.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Ronald and Marlene De Jager of Maurice; a daughter and her husband, Neva Jean and Milo De Jong of Colfax, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, Leroy De Jager, Cindy Larsen, Gary De Jager, Brenda Bruxvoort, Marci Jager, Nathan De Jager, Tammy De Jong, Terri Sprague, Todd De Jong and Michele Gibson; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Harriet Spinklink of Boulder City, Colo.
In additon to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Karl Sprague; seven brothers, Harry, Albert, Edward, Andrew, William, Martin and Elmer De Jager; and two sisters, Sadie Hooks and Grace Weibersch.
