Geraldine Van Peursem, 83, of Maurice, IA. died Thursday May 15, 1997, at the Oak Park Care Cent in Sheldon, following a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons diseases.
She was born to John & Willemina (Brink) Peelen, April 29, 1914 in Maurice, IA. She married Alfred D Van Peursem on August 27, 1930 in Canton, SD. They farmed near Maurice. Three years after Alfred’s death, Geraldine & LeAnn moved to Maurice. In 1978 Geraldine moved to Orange City. She moved to Sheldon in 1992.. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Maurice. She had been involved as 4-H leader and the Farm Bureau Womens Chorus.
Survivors include; step-son and his wife: Marion A. & Sadie Van Peursem of Maurice; son & his wife: Dean A. & Gladys of Redmond, CA, two daughters and their husbands: Leola L. & John De Jong and LeAnn K. & Perry Jager all of Maurice; son-in-law: Pete De Koter Sioux Center; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister: Mattie Brink of Pleasant Acres Nursing Home in Hull, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son (Lloyd Dean) & daughter (Carol).
