OCHEYEDAN, Iowa - Mildred L.Timmons, 89, of Sioux City formerly of Ocheyedan, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City. Services will be at 10:30 am. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan, with the Rev. Paul Frederiksen officiating. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Burial will be in Ocheyedan Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m., at Andringa Funeral Chapel in Ocheyedan.
Mrs. Timmons was born July 5, 1910, in Maurice, Iowa, the daughter of John M. and Effie (Heusinkveld) Mieras. She was raised in Maurice, where she graduated from high school in 1928. She attended Iowa State College where she received her bachelor of science degree in Home Economics in 1932. She was a teacher at Havelock, Ocheyedan and Harris, Iowa.She married William H. Timmons on June 17, 1936, in Maurice. They lived in Ocheyedan. She assisted her husband with their business. Her husband died Dec. 14, 1992.She was an active member of: United Methodist Church of Ocheyedan. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Ocheyedan School Board, and was active in the community. Survivors include two sons and their wives: Bruce and Roberta of Sioux City, and Steve and Jeri of Worthington, Minn.; a daughter, Janice Timmons of Lititz, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Douglas, Daniel, William, Paula, Bruce Jr., Tracy, Troy, and Ty Timmons; and 14 great-grandchildren.
