Kenneth H. Hultquist, 81, of Hawarden died suddenly on Dec. 2, 2003 at the Hawarden Community Hospital. Funeral service was Dec. 5 at the Associated Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Laird Keever officiating. Burial was in the St. John's Cemetery at Craig, with Military Services by the Hudson Bergstrom-Bodeen Post #128. Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden was In charge
of arrangements.

Kenneth H. Hultquist was born Oct. 15, 1922 in Stromsburg, Neb., the son of Arthur and Esther (Ahlgren) Hultquist. He married Betty Haberman Aug. 28, 1945 in York, Neb. They moved to Hawarden in January of 1960. Ken was employed with the First National Bank, which later became the First State Bank where he was the CEO. He later was employed with the Northwestern State Bank in Orange City and then for four years with Farmers State Bank in Ha­warden. Ken retired in 1985. He was a member of the Associated Church in Hawarden, where he was a church officer and the Hudson Bergstrom-Bodeen Post #128.

He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army from December 1942 to February 1946.

Survivors include his wife Betty; son, Bradley; two daugn­ters-in-Iaw, Valerie Hultquist of Ireton and Beverly Hultquist of Brunsville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mavis Johnson of Omaha, Neb., Harriet Fenster of Williamsburg, Va. and Helen Nelson of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Brian and Blake.
