Louis Kroon was born Oct. 17, 1912 near Boyden,IA
son of John and Fennigji(Pruim) Kroon. He grew up in the Boyden,IA and Steen, MN areas and later worked as a farmer. Louis moved to Hospers, IA and became a gas transport driver for Sheldon Transport Co. On Feb. 28, 1935 Louis was united in marriage to Tena Uittenbogaard at here parents home between Hospers and Sheldon. After 34 years of marriage, his wife Tena died on May 28, 1967. He later married Christine Vanden Top on Oct. 17, 1969 at Inwood, IA. Following their marriage they lived in Hospers while Louis continued trucking. In 1989 Louis and Chris moved to Rock Rapids, Ia and lived in an apartment. For the past 8 years and 3 months Louis was a resident of the Rock Rapids Health Centre. Last Tuesday evening he died there at the age of 88.
Surviving is his wife of 31 years, Christine of Rock Rapids, a son John Kroon and his wife Lila of Sheldon; a daughter Gladys Arends and her husband Robert of Sioux Falls and a daughter in law Barb Theis and her husband Leroy of Sheldon.
Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two brothers John Kroon and his wife Jennell of Fairmont, MN and Dick Kroon and his wie Afton of Salt Lake City, Ut, a step daughter Betty Bouma and her husband of Luverne, MN two step sons Gilbert Vanden Top and his wife Leona of Rock Rapids and Robert Vanden Top and his wife Arlene of Rock Valley. Other survivors include 16 step grandchildren and 25 step great grandchildren.
Preceding Louis in death were his parents, wife Tena, and a son, Larry. Two brothers Ed and Herman, and an infant brother and sister.
