Mrs. Bert A. Nielsen, 79, Orange City, died Saturday in an Orange City hospital after a brief illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Faith Lutheran Church at Orange city. The Rev. Donald Johnson officiated. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Cherokee under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mrs. Nielsen, the former Martha K. Juhl, was born June 27, 1899, at rural Oyens. She was married to Mr. Neilsen February 18, 1920, at Marcus.

The couple farmed near Cleghorn until 1968, when they moved to Marcus. Mr. Neilsen died March 19, 1970, at Le Mars. Mrs. Nielsen had been a resident of Pioneer Home at Orange City since 1972.

Mrs. Nielsen was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Helen Eckstein of Sioux City and Mrs. Wendell (Lillian) Toenjes of Le Mars; four sons, Harold of Sioux City, Arnold of Doon, Edwin of Onawa, and Philip of Dakota City, Nebraska; a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Marie) Nunemaker of Sioux City; three brothers, Andrew Juhl of Le Mars; Edward Juhl of Decorah, and Arthur Juhl of Vallejo, California; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren
