Just as we go to press, Friday we are shocked and grieved to learn that W. S. Palmer of Orange City, had just died of diphtheria. He exposed himself somewhat in going to the funeral of her sister at Dubuque, when he was suffering from the la grippe but was recovering when he took the diphtheria. His wife is also very ill with the same disease and her life is dispared of.
Walter S. Palmer was one of the best men that ever drew the breath of life, with many true friends who saw and appreciated his sterling qualities of heart and mind. He never went back on a friend and he had many, who to-day will drop a tear for their dead friend. As a lawyer he had few equals in the North west and no superiors. Young in years, having a very large practice and a great furture before him, he death is shocking as well as lamentable. He has been married but one short year, the father of a bright baby who will never know a father's affection nor advise. Dead! How horribel, how unreal it seems. We cannot write as we would wish. We cannot ezpress the feelings that flood our mind and agonize our heart today. The world seems less bright and less attractive.
We hope the mother of that bright baby; the wife of that good man, whose body, now lies stilled by cruel death, will recover.

Walter Spence Paulmer, of Orange City, age 37, a lawyer born in New York to David Palmer and Anna Cochrane; married Anna C. Johnson, of Allen IA, age 25 born in Ohio to Edwin W. Johnson and Barbara Kidd; married at Alton IA on Apr 4, 1889 by N. L. Burton Minister. From the Sioux County Herald of Orange City listed a son born to W. S. Palmer Dec of 1889. )
