ROCK VALLEY--Lorance E. DeVries,60, of Rock Valley, died Friday at a local hospitial of brief illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the First Reformed Church at Rock Valley. The Rev. Roger Voskuil officiated. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley, with the Porter Funeral Home in charge.

Mr.DeVries was born July 6, 1916 at Hull. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He married Garnet Hooks Jun 15, 1940, at Panama City, Fla. In 1946, he open DeVries Jewelery in Rock Valley.

Survivors include the widow; one son David of Rock Rapids; one daughter, Mrs.Virgil (Susan) French, of North Platte, Neb.; two sisters, Mrs. James Wandscheer and Mrs. Joe Wandscheer, both of Sioux Center and four grandchildren.
