Joubert A. Wassenaar, age 69, of Orange City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4 on arrival at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Joubert Andrew was born Jan. l8, l919 at Orange City, the son of Andrew Wassenaar and Susan Wielenga Wassenaar.
On Jan. l8, l940, he married Nellie Brouwer at Orange City. Except for one year in Minnesota, they farmed in the Orange City area. In l970 they moved into town, where Joubert was employed by Silent Sioux which became Metals Engineering. He later worked at the Alton Well and Concrete Company. About l0 years ago he retired because of poor health.
He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City.
Survivors include his wife; a sons, Bryan and his wife Marianne, and two grandchildren, David and Anna, all of Orange City; a sister Wilhelmina Gesink of Denver, Colo., and four brothers, Alfred and Donald both of Sheldon, James of Orange City and Stanley of Banning, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 7 at the First Christian Reformed Church with the Rev.Ralph A. Pontier officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
