Former Sioux Center Resident Dies in Holland, Mich.
Mrs. Nick Wassenaar passed away at Holland, Mich., on Saturday afternoon following an illness of about a year and three months, after suffering a stroke. She suffered another stroke on Saturday, Nov. l5 from which she failed to rally.
Born in the Netherlands, on Sept. 27, l875, Mrs. Wassenaar came to America with her parents at the age of five years. On June l8, l894 she was united in marriage to Mr. Nick Wasenaar who preceded her in death about fifteen years ago. The family made their home in Sioux Center where Mr. Wassenaar was in business in the lumber yard for many years. They moved to Holland, Mich. about thirty years ago.
She is now survived by seven children, four sons, John of Lynden, Wash., Lester of Holland, Mich. and Gerrit and Howard of Grand Rapids, Mich., and three daughters Joan, Mrs. Milne and Kay, Mrs Provst both of California, and Nell, Mrs Sullivan of Boston, Mass. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bert Rozeboom of Sioux Center and Mrs. Wm. Remmerde of Los Angeles, Calif. and a brother John Schoep of Sioux Center
Funeral services were held at Holland, Mich. on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 25 and burial took place at Holland, Mich.
