Francis V. Peterson, 71, died at his home in Hawarden last Thursday following a lingering illness. In February, 1937, Mr. Peterson suffered a stroke. Since that time he was confined to a wheel chair unitl a month before his death when he was bedridden.
He went to Big Springs with his parents when a young man and he spent most of his life in the community. He came to Hawarden about two years ago when his daughter, Miss Ione Peterson, accepted a position as a nurse in the Hawarden hospital. During this time she cared for her father.
Funeral services were held at the Big Springs Baptist church Saturday afternoon with Rev. D. A. Miller in charge.
Francis Victor Peterson was born August 28, 1876, at Kron IA. He grew to young manhood here and attended the public schools. In 1907 he went to the Big Springs vicinity with his parents, brothers and sisters. He spent most of his life in this vicinity.
He married Minnie Johnson of Big Springs Dec 6, 1911. She preceded him in death four years ago. Survivors include three children, Alvin and Ione Peterson and Mrs. Marilyn Wilson; one sister, Sarah Peterson of Hawarden; one brother, Emil Peterson, also of Hawarden, and one grandson Larry Peterson.
