Axel Peterson a resident of this community over 30 years, passed away at his home on Christmas evening following a stroke. he suffered a stroke on Monday of last week and later he suffered two more strokes. He could not speak after the first day of his illness althought he did not remain in bed all of the time but he grew weaker gradually until death released him from his suffering.
Funeral services were held at his home and then in the Big Sprins Baptist church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. R. A. Dahlquist in charge. Interment was in the family lot in Big Springs Cemetery.
Axel Robert Peterson was born in Misterhult Socken, Sweden, May 8, 1867, and at the age of one year came to America with his parents, locating on a farm near Kiron IA. Here he spent his early life enduring the hardships of the pioneer. In 1907 the family moved to Big Springs community and he made his home there since that time.....
He never married and since the death of his parents he made his home with his sister, Sarah and Brother, Emil. Besides these two he leaves to mourn him on other brother, Francis, a brother in law Albert Leiff, two nieces and a nephew. He had attained the age of 70 years, 7 months and 16 days.
