Emil Hanzen, 79, of Inwood died Wednesday, April 30, 1997, at the Fellowship Village in Inwood.

Services were held Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Alvord, Iowa. With the Rev. Gary Pubst officiating. Burial was in Richland cemetery at Inwood. Visitation was at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, Iowa.

Mr. Hanzen was born July 24, 1917, in Sioux County, Iowa. The son of Peter and Lena (Jensen) Hanzen. He married Clara (Klein) Trego on January 10, 1958.

The couple farmed near Inwood until retiring into Inwood in 1982. The couple moved to the Colonial Manor in Hudson, South Dakota, in July 1993 and the Fellowship Village in January 1995. She died October 2, 1995.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Janet Trego of Clearwater, Florida; a sister and her husband, Louis and Fritz Kock of Rock Valley; a brother-in-law, Harold Simunek of Canton, South Dakota and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Clarence and Jennie Hanzen and a sister, Myna Simunek.
