Fritz Kock, 78, of Rock Valley died Monday, November 3, 1997, at Canton-Inwood Hospital in Canton, South Dakota.

Services were Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran church in Rock Valley with the Rev. James Demke officiating. Burial was in Peace Lutheran Cemetery in rural Sioux Center, Iowa. Visitation was at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.

Mr. Kock was born November 4, 1918, near Rock Valley, the son of Fred and Ann (Schuldt) Kock. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

He married Louise Hanzen on January 29, 1941, in Inwood, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Rock Valley area until retiring into town in 1981.

He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He also served on the Rock Valley Community School Board and the Farmer’s Lumber Company board.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Doris and Rodney Hall of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, a daughter-in law, Margit Kock of Rock Valley; a brother-in-law, Harold Simunek of Canton S.D.; a sister, Dorothy McKenney of Inwood; and five grandchildren, David and Michael Kock and Douglas, Julie and Neil Hall.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dale and seven brothers and five sisters.
