Wiekamp, Marie, Mrs. Gerrit - 1908-1976

Mrs. Gerrit Wiekamp, 68, Sheldon, died June 30 in the Sheldon Community Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, at 1 P.M., in the First Reformed Church in Sheldon with Rev. Louis Benes and Rev. H. A. Harmelink officiating. Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home.

Marie Geerdes was born June 19, 1908 in George. She maried Gerrit Wiekamp on June 18, 1937 in George. She taught in rural schools in the George and Sheldon areas for over 18 years.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Marlene (Mrs. Ronald) Reisinger of Riceville; Twyla (Mrs. Darrell) Schaap of Sheldon; one son, Gerald of Sioux Center; two sisters, Caroline Anderson, Tilly (Mrs. Alvin) Nicks of Sheldon; two brothers, Chris Geerdes of Worthington, Minn., and George of Excelsior Springs, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Pallbears were Ron Geerdes, Robert Nicks, Orville Willemssen, Arian Wiekamp, Larry Wiekamp and Chris Geels. Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Hofmeyer sang "In The Garden" and "Does Jesus Care" accompanied by Mrs. Henry Van Beek.
