Delbert Leroy Mitchell, 82, of Hawarden died July 23 in a nursing home here.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M., July 26 in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Ireton. The Rev. Paul Sieveking officiated and burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Ireton. A prayer service was conducted at 8 P.M., July 25 in the Dow Funeral Home at Hawarden.

Mr. Mitchell was born June 23, 1894, at Heltonsville, Ind. He came to Iowa after serving in World War I. He married Helen Grau Sept. 24, 1919 at Maurice.

The couple farmed. In 1949 they moved to Ireton, and to Hawarden in 1970.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Ireton, and a lifetime member of Bertram Post 276 American Legion at Ireton.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Cleotis of Tucson, Ariz., Walter of Gilroy, Calif., and Keith of Hawarden; and two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Lois) Degner and Mrs. Norman (Neva) Marinau, both of Ireton; 19 grandchildren, 5 stepgrandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.
