Orange City - Mrs. Henry De Groot, 90, of Orange City died Thursday, June 8, in the Orange City hospital.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the First Reformed Church. The Rev. Perry Raak and Rev. Frank Snuttjer officiated. Burial was at the West Lawn Cemetery under direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home.
Mrs. De Groot, the former Jennie Kreykes, was born January 26, 1888, at Hospers. She was married to Henry Rensink in 1914. He died in 1915.
She was married to Henry De Groot September 29, 1920, at Sheldon. They farmed eight miles north of Orange City until 1951, when they retired to town. Mr. De Groot died March 20, 1977.
Mrs. De Groot had been living in the Heritage House at Orange City for the last year. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Henrietta) Vander Weerd or Orange City; a son, Marvin “Bud” of Shelby, North Carolina; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ann Leemkuil of Sioux City, and two brothers, John Kreykes and Edward Kreykes, both of Sheldon.
