Irene Wegner, 96, of Hudson, formerly of Hawarden died Monday, August 8, 1994, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hudson.

Funeral services was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Loren Vogler officiating. Burial was in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Visitation began at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.

Irene Wegner was born February 22, 1898 in Lincoln, Iowa, the daughter of Jurgen and Anna (Duge) Wegner. She moved to Sioux County with her parents in March of 1900 and attended grade school. She was baptized September 16, 1900, being the first person baptized in Trinity Lutheran Church. She was confirmed March 29, 1914. Irene worked at the Hawarden Dry Cleaners and later was employed with the Elementary School Lunch Program.

She moved into the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in November of 1991.

She was a lifelong member of the Trinity Lutheran Church were she taught Sunday School for 27 years and held offices in various organizations of the church.

She is survived by a sister, Hilda Henningsen of Grundy Center, Iowa; and nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis, Albert, Walter and William; and sisters, Alma miller and Emma Eilts.
