Harriet J. Peuse, 77, of Orange City died Monday, February 17, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Funeral Service was Thursday at l0:30 a.m. at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen and the Rev. Kevin De Young officiating. Interment was at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.
Mrs. Peuse was born April 1, l925, near Alton, the daughter of Charles and Cora (Vellinga) Kleinhesselink. She graduated from the Newkirk High School in l941. During World War II she helped her parents on the farm and was employed in Sioux City, preparing food for United States forces serving overseas. On August 20, l946, she married Henry Peuse at Maurice. They farmed by Maurice for three years and then moved to a farm by Orange City where they made their home the rest of their lives. In October of October 2000, she became a resident of the Orange City Municipal Hospital long Term Care Facility.
Mrs Peuse was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed baking, sewing, and gardening. She appreciated the friendship of Nelly Veldhuizen, Leola Te Grotenhuis and Marie Maassen.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years; four children and their spouses, Dr. Harlan and Godbertha Peuse of Pretoria,South Africa, Wanda and Gerry Noordhoek of Orange City, Gloria and Barry Weber of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Delwyn and Sharon Peuse of Lake Tahoe, CA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Joe C. and Bertha Kleinhesselink of Orange City; two sisters, Berdina Vander Schaaf of Sheldon, and Nelvina Franken of Sioux Center, and a sister-in-law, Annabeth Kleinhesselink of Mesa, Arizona.
She was preced in death by a brother, Ring Kleinhesselink.
