ORANGE CITY--John A Scholten, 70 formerly of Orange City, died Sunday at a Madison Wis.,nursing home. He had been ill about a year.

The funeral was at 1:30 p.m.Wednesday at the Van Etten-Otoman Funeral Home of Orange City. The Rev. Gordon L. Van Enk, pastor of the Christian Reformed Church of Madison,officiated. Burial was in the West Lawn Cemetery of Orange City.

Mr. Scholten was born Dec.4,1906, at Alton. He lived in Orange City prior to attending Iowa State University, Ames. After his graduation from ISU, he moved to Madison. He was an engineer with the Forest Products Laboratory at Madison, a government agency. He retired about a year ago. He served as a civilian consultant to Gen. Douglas MacArthur during Worald War II.

Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Lou (Johanna) Wielenga and Miss Anna, both of Orange City, and a brother, Bernard of Muskegon, Mich.
