VANPEURSEM, REEKERS, VANSTEENBERGEN

Orange City- John A. Van Peursem, 90, of Orange City, died Dec. 21 in a hospital at Sioux Center.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M., Dec. 24 in the First Christian Reformed Church of Orange City. The Rev. John D. Hellinga officiated. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, with the Van Gelder Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Van Peursem was born Feb. 24, 1886 in Orange City. He married Jennie Reekers in the 1900's. She died about two years later.

He married Winnie Van Steenbergen Jan. 30, 1919 at Pella. For 35 years he owned and operated a hatchery and feed business, and retired about 25 years ago. They moved to a nursing home in 1975. Mrs. Van Peursem died Nov. 19, 1976.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, and had been a deacon there.

Survivors include two sons, Myron of rural Alton and Cecil of Lake Worth, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Neal (Grace) Mol of Sioux Center; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; two brothers, Abe J. of Orange City and the Rev. William of Redlands, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Everett Reinders, Mrs. John De Groot and Mrs. Tony De Weerd, all of Orange City.

NOTE: The obituary shows the last name as Van Puersem rather than Van Peursem.
