SIOUX CENTER--Jacob A. Oordt, 72, of Council Bluffs, a former Orange City and Sioux Center resident, died Friday at a Council Bluffs hospital after a brief illness.

Services were at 1: p.m. Monday at Meyer Chapel, Council Bluffs. The Rev. Duane King director, of the Deaf Mission in Council Bluffs, officiated. Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery, Council Bluffs

Mr. Oordt was born May 12, 1905 at Hospers. He married Irene J. Pumphrey on Nov. 11, 1930. Mr. Oordt was a barber in Orange City and Sioux Center, retiring in 1970. He moved to Council Bluffs that year. He was a member of the National Fraternal Order of the Deaf and Bethleham Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Omaha.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Donna M. Stephens of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Ruth J. Strozdas of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters Mrs. Ed R. Vermeer of Sioux Center and Mrs. William Harkema of South Holland, IL; and nine grandchildren.
